In the context of the FASTI (First ATC Support Tools Implementation) programme the TCT (Tactical Controller Tool) aims to provide the Tactical ATC Controller with information similar to the MTCD (Medium Term Conflict Detection) but with a shorter lookahead, and using a system trajectory that is updated more often and which takes into account the rejoin manoeuvre of the aircraft if it is deviating fom the planned route. There is also an extended STCA warning if two aircraft are on a collision heading within a configurable lookahead time. The tool may also show warnings of conflicts that could occur if a flight doesn't follow the planned route.
Current features of the TCT prototype are:
- A Tactical Trajectory showing the system trajectory up to the Tactical Lookahead Time, and including a rejoin manoeuvre when the flight is laterally deviating. This trajectory may be viewed in the HMI by opening the FlightLeg using righ-button click on the aircraft label callsign button. Tactical conflict information is shown on this FlightLeg similar to the MTCD tool.
- A specific FlightLeg for a critical manoeuvre situation, showing the planned trajectory, and the state-vector trajectory that conflicts with another flight should the 'critical manoeuvre' not be performed.
- The ability to activate MTCD-only, TCT-only and TCT with MTCD.
- The ability to cap the Tactical Trajectory to the CFL (option) so that the controller sees the result of the current clearance rather than the planned clearance.
