This prototype demonstrator was build for the SAFety Business Area and the ACAS programme. Its objective was to extend the EATMP CWP to include downlinked TCAS Resolution Advisory (RA) information, thus permiting an ATC controller to clearly understand pilot intentions during such circumstances.
The prototype also demonstrates the use of voice prompts, as is the case in modern cockpit systems.

The prototype shown below is the result of an initial limited development. It offers the following functionality

• demonstrating various radar update rates
• downlinking of TCAS data via Mode-S radar or uni-directional antenna
  (i.e. the TCAS RA is either notified on next radar update or immediately)
• 'real' TCAS data superimposed on the GRD IAS radar data
• choice of TCAS text

• various Radar label layouts
• flashing text
• innovative human factors elements - voice prompts and vibration prompts

TCAS Description This application runs in 'demo' mode, whereby a number of flights will arrive in conflict. Then predetermined TCAS Resolution Advisories will be notified to the GROUND subsystem and implemented by the 'pilots'. Download Launch application
