ACAS 2000 Report
Major results, based on 2902 Resolution Advisories (RAs) reported
in European airspace, include:
- About three quarters of ACAS Resolution Advisories (RAs) occur
when one or both aircraft are approaching their cleared level at a high
vertical rate.
- The number of cases where pilots reported that they did not
follow RAs was low. Typically in those cases, faith was placed in visual
acquisition or controller information.
- The rate of false RAs has dropped considerably with the
introduction of the new TCAS version 7.
- There were still cases where pilots reacted inappropriately
(horizontally) or excessively to RAs
